Beginners
New to paddlesport? Whilst Nottingham Kayak Club prides itself in being one of the countries leading race kayak/canoe clubs we offer entry into the sport for those who have never sat in a canoe or kayak before. Every Spring and Summer we offer at least three six week 'Introduction to Paddlesport' courses. In addition watch out for our 'taster' sessions which will allow you to decide if one of our courses is right for you. By the end of the course all participants should be paddling at or above British Canoeing's 'Discover' award level. In other words you should be taking steps towards becoming an independent paddler, for a fun and safe time on the water. Progression
One of the benefits of learning to paddle at Nottingham Kayak Club is we are a 'multi-disciplinary' club so we have different types of kayaks and canoes available for members to use! Some members stay in plastic recreational boats, others will try our fleet of Wavehoppers (Wildwater race boats) and Trimmers (stable race boats). Many then transition to our fleet of racing kayaks and are able to access a range of training groups based on ability levels.
